Immunizations for students entering
kindergarten or students entering a new school district:
State law requires that each student
entering kindergarten or a new school district in grades 1-12
have a certificate of immunization at the time of
registration or not later than the first day of school.
Before a child can be permitted to enter or
attend school, parents or guardians must present documentation
that their child has received all required doses of vaccines, or
that their child has received at least one dose of each of the
required vaccines and is waiting to receive subsequent doses at
the appropriate time intervals (see #3 below).
There are three circumstances in which a
required vaccine may be waived or delayed:
- A
valid medical contraindication exists to receiving a
vaccine. The
child’s physician must sign a medical waiver.
- The
parents or guardians hold religious or philosophical beliefs
against receiving a vaccination.
The parent or guardian must sign this waiver.
- The
child has received at least one dose of each immunizing
agent; however, the next dose or doses are not yet due.
