School Focused Public Health Nurse

The Benzie-Leelanau District Health Department is hiring public health nurses to focus on health and wellness of school students, staff and families.  This challenging and rewarding position will initially target COVID activities such as testing, contact tracing, and health education for students, school staff, and families, with a long-term plan of expanding ot more comprehensive school health services.

Nursing experience in pediatrics, school nursing or community health nursing is preferred, but not required.  Applicants must hold a license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.  A BSN is preferred.  Exceptional communication and organizational skills are required. Computer skills include Word, basic Excel spreadsheets, creating flyers and promotional materials, and electronic health records.

The right candidate may also be eligible for a Supervisory role to oversee school health initiatives led by the Benzie-Leelanau District Health Department.  Previous Supervisory experience and/or school health experience required.

This .8 position works full time during the school year and reduced hours during the summer (approximately 15-20 hours/week during summer months).  Competitive wages, generous time off, and and excellent benefit plan are included.

Public Health Nurse

The Benzie-Leelanau District Health Department is hiring a full-time Public Health Nurse to join our team.  Public Health Nursing is never boring as there is an array of services we offer to help our population achieve optimal health and well-being, including perinatal Home visits, Immunizations, WIC, Communicable Disease, Reproductive Health, and a variety of other initiatives and advocacy opportunities.

Early Childhood Community Health Worker

The Benzie-Leelanau District Health Department is seeking a full-time Community Health Worker to join our Leelanayu County early childhood team.  Responsibilities include facilitating playgroups; conducting home visits to offer parenting support, child developmental assessments, and referral to community resources; planning and implementing community activiites for families; and collaboration with community partners to advocate for families.
