Hearing and VisionThe health department offers free hearing and vision screenings for all children.
Who is eligible for free hearing and vision screening?
Hearing screening is available for children ages 6 months to 18 years, and vision screening is available for children 3-18 years of age.
In partnership with our schools, our Hearing and Vision Technicians provide school-based screening for preschool and school-age students for the following age groups:

Any parent with concerns about their child can schedule a free individual hearing or vision screening appointment in our Benzie and Leelanau County offices. Please call Ruth Griner at 231-882-2107 or email rgriner@bldhd.org to arrange an appointment.
